The Brittany spaniel is a breed of dog developed in France. It is known for its ability to be agile, adaptable and capable of great endurance. The Brittany spaniel has similarities to the old types of working spaniels which were imported into France from Great Britain. It is symmetrically built and on the same lines as modern English spaniels. The head is fairly broad, the ears are higher set than those of a cocker spaniel and it is shorter in neck but longer in body and higher on the leg. The tail is short or nonexistent. The coat is thick and soft, but not too profuse except on ears, belly and breeches where it forms attractive fringes. The color is white with dark orange markings.
