Beagle Dogs-Personality


The Beagle dog is a breed of hunting dog. It is similar to the foxhound, which is seen at dog shows today. The rice in popularity of the Beagle dog has been meteoric and universal. However, the Beagle resembles the foxhound—which like the Beagle is a hunting dog—and has much in common with it. For example: it is tardy and of a compact build, giving the impression of great stamina and energy; its head is powerful without being coarse; its skull is domed with a well-defined stop (the angle between its forehead and muzzle); its nose broad; and its ears long and fine in texture. In addition, it possesses a neck that is moderately long, well set into a muscular body; straight legs with good substance round bone; powerful padded feet.

The smooth coated Beagle, which has a short, close coat and a tail that is carried gaily, is one of the most popular breeds of dog. Smooth-coated Beagles also exist in rough coat varieties, with dense wiry hair on the back and sides. The color of the coat varies but may include white markings. The height at the shoulder ranges from 13 to 17 inches for males and 12 to 16 inches for females.
