Belgian sheepdogs are a popular breed of dog that was developed in Belgium as early as the 12th century. They have been used by police forces as an alert and attentive expression, a pointed fore face, and eyes that vary in color from amber to brown. Their coat forms a mane around the neck and their tail is bushy.
The Groenendael is black. Its height at the shoulder is 25 to 27 inches for males and 23 to 25 inches for females.
